Basin City Elementary's Library Literacy and Technology Learning Expectations K-6

We believe that: (1) Reading / Literacy is a window to the world, (2) inquiry provides a framework for learning, (3) that technology is an important instructional tool in enabling students to reach the Benchmarks / Standards required by Washington State’s Academic Learning Requirements, and Washington State’s Library Information and Technology Standards. The following information outlines six categories of learning expectations that are essential skills to prepare students for life-long learning, informed decision-making and a love of reading. In 5th Grade, student are enhancing their keyboarding skills withuse of “home row” keys and proper finger positioning. Studetns are able to locate, save and retrieve documents. They are introduced to importance of citing sources and how to do online research for projects.
