Basin City Elementary's Library Literacy and Technology Learning Expectations K-6

We believe that: (1) Reading / Literacy is a window to the world, (2) inquiry provides a framework for learning, (3) that technology is an important instructional tool in enabling students to reach the Benchmarks / Standards required by Washington State’s Academic Learning Requirements, and Washington State’s Library Information and Technology Standards. The following information outlines six categories of learning expectations that are essential skills to prepare students for life-long learning, informed decision-making and a love of reading. In 1st Grade, students will work on their skills in typing their first and last name, sight words and simple sentences. They will access websites and be introduced to basic word processing skills!
